WWF Climate & Energy Practice

 

Paola is a global expert in the Climate and Energy Practice at WWF International, currently leading the corporate engagement team for the Science Based Targets initiative. The initiative is a collaboration between WWF, WRI, CDP and the United Nations Global Compact.

 

She is an Environmental Engineer with a Masters in Climate Change from the Australian National University, with tracked experience on climate change mitigation, GHG accounting and reporting, climate economics and policy. In the past decade she has supported numerous companies on various aspects of their climate and sustainability strategies.

 

During the first phase of the Science Based Targets initiative, Paola contributed to the development of the "Decarbonization Sector Approach" methodology, as well as the initiative’s criteria and guidance for science-based target setting. In 2018, she co-developed the SBTi’s transport tool and guidance to model science-based targets for road transportation activities and sectors.

 

In her current role, she focuses on developing strategies, guides, materials and training to facilitate the adoption of science-based targets by companies around the world, as well as on supporting partners’ activation at the country level.

 

Paola has also extensive experience in consulting, auditing and environmental education. In her experience as a consultant, she accredited one of the first greenhouse gas validation and verification organizations in Mexico with the ISO 14065 standard.
