Faiz is a Partner with PwC Malaysia. He has held the position of Executive Chairman of PwC Malaysia since 2012. Previously, he was the leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Islamic Finance Team practice from 2007 to September 2012, leads the local Malaysian GIFT practice and now leads the ESG and Shariah Investing part of the Sustainability and Climate Change practice.
Faiz has over 35 years of experience in the audit and business advisory services in Malaysia. He has also been involved in the audits of clients in the banking, healthcare, power, palm oil and construction industry. He was also the Project Director leading the team on the Accrual Accounting project with the Malaysian Accountant General’s office. He has also acted as the Administrator for a National Airline from 2015 to 2020 and for two Public Interest Entities since 2018.
One of Faiz’s role as Chairman of PwC is to coordinate the Malaysian firm’s services in the Sustainability and Climate Change field. He is currently a Steering Committee member of the CEO Action Network (CAN) that represents Malaysian industry players seeking to advocate policy matters and bring better awareness of climate change issues.
Faiz is a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Council Member of ICAEW UK since 2019. He has held the post of the President of Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Chairman of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board (MASB), Exco and Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and ICAEW City Group Chairman. In addition, he is a member of The Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals and chairs the Islamic Finance Working Group both on the Asian-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group and on MASB. He is the also the Chairman of the Islamic Finance Consultative Group of the International Accounting Standards Board.
