Duncan Cave is the lead for Think City Institute, a knowledge repository, and the educational and advocacy arm of Think City, a community based urban regeneration organisation based in Malaysia. The Institute’s role is to create an educational framework from the knowledge and experience that Think City has gained over the past decade from working closely with various stakeholders, the aim being to help build capacity amongst professionals working within the urban sphere both within Malaysia and the region.
Duncan joined Think City in 2013 after seeing the works the organisation had done in George Town. He recognised the role that cultural heritage, conservation, and good public realm design played in making the lives better for city dwellers, but what attracted him to Think City was their high degree of community engagement which made them unique. The work of the organisation continues to inspire him. Duncan has lived in Malaysia for the past decade, after years in business in Hong Kong, and now considers it home.
