Associate Professor Sunil Herat is the Program Director of Master of Environmental Engineering & Pollution Control degree offered by Griffith. He is an expert in Municipal Solid Waste Management, Hazardous Waste Management, Cleaner Production and Eco-efficiency, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Consumption and Production. He convened three postgraduate courses related to these areas offered as part of the Master of Environmental Engineering degree at Griffith University. He has also conducted several professional training and capacity programs to international audiences on integrated waste and resource management. He is currently functioning as a Member of the Subsidiary Expert Group (SEG) of the United Nations Regional 3R Forum for Asia and the Pacific providing advisory support/strategic guidance to member countries on managing electronic waste (E-waste) and plastic waste. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of waste management, in particular, issues and challenges related to developing and emerging economies in the Asia Pacific region. He has conducted several workshops and training programs for waste management professionals in Singapore, Fiji (Pacific Islands), India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
